Job Context:
Riseup Labs is looking for a talented Game UI Animator whose primary responsibility is to design user interface animations to bring our games to life. You’ll be using Esoteric Spine to create rich animations to enliven our live games. The right candidate has a solid design background, understanding of basic animation principles, and previous experience working on Spine animations for games. This position is a foundational part of a rapidly growing team and plays a key role in the end-to-end product development process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with designers, visual and sound artists, engineers, and product managers to craft best-in-class live gaming experiences.
- Design UX motion behaviors, systems, and animations to be delivered as images and code that orient, teach, and guide the player experience, adding excitement and fulfillment to the user experience.
- Create unique art and animations in a variety of styles and themes.
- Develop high- and low-fidelity motion studies to inform UX design stages from proof-of-concept to delivery.
- Rapidly build and iterate mockups, as well as polished high-fidelity designs and prototypes.
- Partner with engineers to deliver motion design documentation, primitives, motion component libraries, and frameworks.
- Present and communicate effectively to a wide range of tech and non-tech audiences.
- Contribute to and manage assets and components for a design system.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline from reputed public or private university.
Additional Requirements:
- 3+ years professional experience in animation, motion, interaction, graphic design, or equivalent design-related field.
- Experience in responsive mobile-first UX and UI planning and design.
- Must have Esoteric Spine experience, including rigging and animating a broad range of objects and characters.
- Must have Adobe Creative Suite experience, including Photoshop and After Effects.
- Strong portfolio, showing strong 2D art foundations and animation skills.
- Experience with game environments such as Unity and Unreal.
- Experience working on games or apps.
- Good knowledge of UI and UX and typography.
- Experience with using and informing design systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in spoken and written form.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with vector-based animation software such as Lottie and Rive
- Experience in 3D design tools such as Blender, 3D Studio Max, Maya or equivalent
- Experience in UX design and prototyping tools such as Adobe XD, Framer or Figma
- Experience in broadcast
- Experience on live sets
