UX Lead

Job Context:

Riseup Labs is looking to hire a User-Experience (UX) Lead designer able to understand our business requirements and any technical limitations, as well as be responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews, and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. The UX designer will also be expected to design the overall functionality of the product, and in order to ensure a great user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user testing.

Job Responsibilities:

• Delivering Mockups, prototypes, and shippable production designs for projects.
• Champion the user experience for a product or suite of products
• Gather business, technical and user requirements from internal stakeholders and customers
• Translate requirements into design concepts and user flows
• Design and deliver user stories and wireframes
• Identify design problems and craft intuitive solutions
• Present designs and discuss design rationale with senior management and development teams
• Gather design feedback from stakeholders and iterate your designs
• Take design risks and champion new ideas
• Help improve internal libraries shared between projects.
• Help with HTML and CSS implementation of designs.
• Work on shared React components.
• Review work either by Code Review or Pairing
• Lead and grow the Design and UI team

Educational Requirements:

• B.Sc in Computer Science and Engineering from any reputed public or private university.

Additional Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in delivering software applications
• Able to mock up or prototype design ideas (Figma, Photoshop, elaborate cocktail napkin dioramas, etc).
• Able to implement those designs.
• Willing to lead and mentor other designers/developers.
• Experience working on and managing multiple projects at a time.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks like React/Angular/Vue.
• Experience with modern frontend styling systems like Styled Components, Tailwind, SASS/LESS, etc.
• Experience with modern prototyping tools like Figma.
• You are excited by the opportunity to grow your own team and guide the evolution of a company.
• You think about where work can be reused and where work must be unique.
• You have built a design system before.
• UX design experience, including experience across desktop, mobile and web applications
• Experience gathering customer insight, summarizing and sharing the findings, and creating designs based on this information
• Proven ability to champion a product or product suite and grow the product in line with the company strategy and vision
• Ability to influence to ensure the successful delivery of design concepts
• Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects of increasing complexity
• High level of initiative, creativity, and flexibility.
• Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced environment; desire to roll up your sleeves and balance strategic and tactical responsibilities
• Possess the ability to learn new technology quickly
