Web Content Editor

Job Context:

Riseup Labs is looking for an Web Content Editor/Proofreader is responsible for creating engaging content and reviewing written documents, such as articles, essays, reports, manuscripts, or any text-based content, to identify and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and formatting that resonates with the website's target audience. The main objective of this role is to attract and retain visitors to the website through high-quality content that informs, entertains, and engages them.

Job Responsibilities:

• Researching and creating compelling content on a variety of topics related to the website & niche, such as lifestyle, health, technology, sports, and travel
• Producing well-written and error-free content NLP optimized content that is optimized for search engines and conforms to the website style and tone.
• Collaborating with the editorial team to plan and develop content ideas that align with the website & content strategy and marketing goals.
• Staying up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and emerging topics to ensure the content is timely, relevant, and engaging.
• Editing and proofreading content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in messaging.
• Review copy to ensure proper grammar, spelling, syntax, and style. Requires an eye for detail, ability to use standard proofreaders marks, and excellent knowledge of grammar and style.
• Demonstrated ability to provide copy editing and proofreading to the highest standard under tight deadlines.
• Promoting content on social media platforms and other relevant channels to increase visibility and engagement.
• Analyzing website metrics to evaluate the performance of content and identify areas for improvement.

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field can be beneficial

Additional Requirements:

• 3+ proven work experience as a Content Writer, Copywriter, Copy Editor, Proofreader or similar role
• Strong writing skills and be able to write in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
• Research a variety of topics and use reliable sources to gather information for their writing.
• Should have a keen eye for detail and be able to proofread and edit their own work to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Should have a basic understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) and be able to incorporate keywords and NLP optimized SEO writing techniques into their writing
• Come up with fresh and creative ideas for content that will engage their audience.
• Manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
